PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Ladies and Sponsors,
By the time you read this, many of you will be recuperating from the traditional week of "grazing". It’s hard to believe there are so many recipes for leftover turkey. The best part of Thanksgiving is the time shared with friends and family.
About the time you take a deep breath, you realize Christmas is right around the corner. For many of you, this will be your first Christmas in Corpus Christi. Just to forewarn you, it doesn’t get very cold here and it rarely snows. To some, that is a good thing, but if you’re planning on a fire in the fireplace, you may need to run the air conditioner.
The holiday season is filled with shopping, decorating, baking, partying, and sharing with loved ones. Speaking of shopping, if you need a few gift ideas try these: kind words, warm hugs, and comforting smiles. Here’s wishing a very happy and safe holiday to each of you and your families.
This season, if you see someone without a smile, give them yours.
Happy Holidays
Candy Duncan
President

Sarita Martinez is getting married November 12 at La Cantera in San Antonio. She is marrying Mr. Randy Bubar. They will be blending their four (4) children, three (3) boys and one (1) girl into a new happy family – "The Bubar Bunch". Sarita has one boy and girl and Randy has two boys. CONGRATULATIONS to Sarita and Randy.
Treva Bedwell and Marcia Mayes spent three days shopping and eating at Canton and Harwin Street in Houston. Marcia got lost and thanks to her new cell phone was able to call Treva and be rescued. They literally shopped till they dropped and came home happy and poor.
Bettie Reeves is back in Spohn Shoreline Hospital and would love a card from you. Get well soon Bettie.
Donna Vickery and Sandra Richmond attended the CHER concert. What a great show she put on and the new American Bank Center is a wonderful addition to Corpus Christi.
Margie Schroeder reports that her husband Roger is on the final countdown to retirement. He will retire December 8 and they leave December 10 for a three-week road trip back east. They will be home in time to host the 3rd annual Dining Out New Year’s Eve party.
Karl and Mollie Zick have had a busy November with friends and family visiting from California. Mollie’s friend, Bonnie Small, came to join her for the Houston International Quilt Festival and what a grand time was had by all.
A week after Bonnie left Mollie’s sister and brother-in-law arrived also from California for a weeks stay in Houston and Corpus – thank goodness the weather finally turned cool so they can get a nice feeling for our fair state.
Juanita Powell and her husband will be leaving on November 16 for a 21-day tour of China celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary. This trip was planned two years ago with her husband even taking Chinese lessons at Del Mar, but their plans had to be changed after SARS so now their dream is about to come true.
Sally Moehrke will have her four grown grandchildren from out of town with her for Thanksgiving.
