PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Ladies and Sponsors,

Wow! 2004 has flown by and here it is a new year!

I hope that each of you had a safe and happy holiday. Most of us did not relax until the last gift was wrapped and stockings stuffed.

January is the month when many of us make resolutions, and February is the one when most of us break them! This is why I think we should make a list of "goals" that we want to reach during the year.

What I really like to think about for the New Year is simply making one or two changes in my life that I know I can do!

So here is my New Year’s suggestion for you: Pick one or two things you want to do or improve, write them down, and post the list someplace that you will see daily. This reminder is one way of staying focused and on track. Give it a try; you never know what you may accomplish.

My goal for NNL is to ensure that each and every member gains enrichment from participation in club activities. It’s likely each of you knows a member who has become less active for whatever reason. Please encourage them to return and join in the fun and friendship.

Remember, that "smiles are the seeds to friendship" and

friendships begin with that single gesture – a smile!

Candy Duncan

President

Sunshine Column

Tom and Sally Galyon's son, Addison,  who is a junior at MI State University in Lansing, MI will be joining them for the holidays.  The family decided after gift exchanging, they would go to the beach with fried chicken and drinks.  After living in MI for 13 years, they all look forward to a beautiful day and none of that white stuff.

Karl and Mollie Zick will be traveling to Raleigh, NC, via automobile, to visit one of their daughters and family for Christmas.  They are looking forward to seeing three of their grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett, and Dylan and giving their mom and dad a rest from three boys.

Neil and Fil Hamilton will be spending Christmas in Huntington Beach, CA with family - Dr. Jim and Patti, Tony, Jane and four grandchildren Julia, Jacob, Josiah, and Anna.  It will be a wonderful reunion!

Carolyn Cutbirth reported that her Granddaughter Caroline's soccer team of 10 years competed on December 14th for the Texas State finals in La Port.  The team represented Corpus Christi in the finals.

A few of our members feel as if they are sailing on a cloud.  Candy Duncan, Lettie Good, Debra Hernandez, and Heather Johnson enjoyed a trip to the Woodhouse Spa for an Egyptian pedicure.  After two hours of having their feet pampered and sipping on wine, they went to the Town Club for lunch.  Needless to say they had a great time enjoying their piece of heaven.  They would like to thank the Woodhouse Spa, the Town Club, and the Regional Economic Development committee for donating this exquisite prize to the NNL Silent Auction.  It sure does pay to attend the NNL Silent Auction!

Ruth Miller just returned from the Caribbean for the third time.  Airports no longer interest her, so far away trips are out.  She drove to Galveston, stayed at the Hotel Galvez and then boarded the Galaxy.  Ruth says "The islands are always different".

After accidently putting her right hand out of commission, Glenda Trvdik, feels very fortunate to have so many wonderful friends in NNL.  She would like to thank everybody for their cards, and good food.  "It is really uplifting and supporting. Thanks again".

Cara Stonecipher's son Nathaniel, won an 11th place medal at the "Share Your Christmas Chess Tournament" here in Corpus Christi.  Nathaniel is a 4th grader at Windsor Park Elementary.

Lena Maude Mueller regrets that she has missed the last 4 months of NNL. During that time they welcomed a new grandson, Harrison Walker Mueller.  He was 7 weeks early and is doing fine, after a hernia surgery. She and her husband also traveled to Cancun, double cruises to and from Alaska, two trips to Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Atlanta during the last four months.

Richard and Catalina Longoria congratulate their 18 year old son, Aaron Ybarra, for starting his own business.  Aaron is a senior at Carroll High School and has launched his own Graphic Design and Clothing Company.  He started with his trademark logo t-shirt and 1st edition pup jacket.  He will be funding his college education at the Art Institute in San Diego with his new venture.  His outfits are geared for teens.
